A very desirable original World War II U.S. M1 steel helmet shell, featuring the sought-after fixed bale (fixed loop) chinstrap attachments and front seam stainless steel rim, characteristic of early war production between 1941 and early 1943.

The helmet retains its original cork textured olive drab combat paint, showing authentic field wear and age. The shell displays several small dents (“battle dings”), typical for helmets that saw field use during the war. These dents only add to the character and history of the piece and are commonly seen on genuine combat-used examples.

The fixed loops remain solid and untouched, confirming the early manufacturing period. The shell shows the correct construction and profile associated with early production by McCord Radiator & Manufacturing Company, the primary supplier of M1 helmets during WWII.

Early fixed bale helmets were produced only during the first part of the war before being replaced by swivel bale versions in 1943, making them considerably scarcer and highly desirable among collectors today.
