Description
For sale is an original U.S. WWII Special Purpose Waterproof Rubber Bag, manufactured in 1944 by the U.S. Rubber Company under contract NXSX-87297.
These large waterproof bags were issued to U.S. troops for D-Day and later amphibious operations, designed to keep radios, medical equipment, clothing and personal items completely dry during beach landings.
Constructed from heavy vulcanized rubber, fully hand-laminated with reinforced panels, and equipped with OD No. 3 canvas straps and original aluminum tips. The interior still shows the classic WWII roll-seal instructions printed on the canvas lining.
On the top flap you can clearly see the original red unit-style markings (“2L”), which is a rare surviving detail and adds great authenticity.
