Beautiful early 20th-century S.Y.C. chemical fire extinguisher, made in France/Belgium and used from the interwar period into WWII.
Constructed in solid brass, recently polished, with the original cast-metal control wheel and clear bilingual instructions (French & Dutch) engraved on the body.
This type of extinguisher works with the classic soda-acid system: the device had to be turned upside down to activate the internal chemical reaction, which then created pressure to discharge the extinguishing agent. These models were widely used in workshops, garages, industrial buildings and wartime facilities.
