A very nice and original German WWII leather map case (Melde Mappe), used by officers and NCOs for carrying maps, documents and writing equipment in the field.
The case is made of black leather and shows honest period wear with a beautiful patina. The construction, stitching and materials are fully consistent with WWII German production.
Inside, the case retains its original configuration with multiple compartments for documents, maps and writing tools. Faint period ink stamps are still visible on the inside leather.
The map case comes with its original shoulder strap and metal fittings.
Please note: the metal clips on the strap are marked with SS runes. These markings were most likely added later or could have been period customization. They are not typical for this type of map case and should be considered non-standard.
