Original WWII vehicle identification plate from the 86th Ordnance Company, part of the U.S. Army Ordnance Corps.

Painted in classic Ordnance red with the yellow flaming bomb emblem and the vehicle number “11”.

The back is hand-marked “M/Sgt W.R. Petrochko”, likely the Master Sergeant in charge of the vehicle or section.

These plates were mounted on the front or bumper of U.S. Army vehicles for unit identification and convoy organization.

The 86th Ordnance Company served as a vital support element in the Red Ball Express, the legendary supply operation that kept the Allied forces moving across Europe after D-Day.

Ordnance companies like the 86th were responsible for vehicle maintenance, repair, and ammunition supply, ensuring the endless stream of trucks on the Red Ball routes could keep rolling toward the front lines.
